Delilah

I’ve almost fallen asleep when Max slaps my ass and sits up with my body draped across his. I must make a sound of protest because he chuckles and squeezes me tight.

“As much as I would love to stay in bed with you all day, I promised you a date and I’m a man of my word. Plus, your dad might kill me if they come back, and I’ve got you naked in my bed.”

Lifting my head, I smile at him. While Max is always handsome, right now with his hair a mess, completely naked, and a relaxed smile on his face, he looks younger and even more gorgeous than normal.

Running my fingertip over his full bottom lip, I ask, “How is it you look better after sex while I’m sure I look like a complete mess?”

Leaning in, he touches his nose to mine. The feel of his hot breath skating across my face has me closing my eyes and willing my body to calm down. “If this is you messy, I don’t want to see you any other way.” He climbs off the bed with me in his arms as if I’m as light as a feather and carries me into his bathroom. “Get cleaned up, so I can take you on our date.”

It’s sweet he wants to take me out when we have the whole house to ourselves when I’m not sure the next time we’ll be alone is.

He sits me down on the cool counter and leans a hip against it as he looks me over. His eyes are half-lidded when they meet mine. “Wouldn’t it be easier if I got ready in my own bathroom?”

“This is your bathroom now. I don’t want you staying in the other room. I want you in my bed every night.”

I tilt my head to the side and take him in. He’s serious, and I’m not sure how I feel about it. How will Beckham feel with me not being in the room next to his? And my parents are here.

Biting my bottom lip, I look down at the toenail polish that’s starting to flake off. “Isn’t that moving things a little too fast?”

“Did you not like being in my arms only a minute ago?” He crosses his arms over his chest, and I can’t help but watch his muscles with the movement.

“I did.”

“And did you not like fucking me?”

“I more than like it, but—”

“But what? We’re grown adults and I don’t want to waste time on something when I know it’s going to happen down the line, anyway.”

The way he talks about us is unlike anything I’ve ever experienced in my life.

“What about Beck? He’s used to being right next door to me.” I try to reason with him.

“Tell him where you’ll be and if he needs you, he can come to you. If you want, we can sit down with him and see how he feels about us being together.”

Leaning forward, I take his hand in mine. “You’d do that?”

He steps to me and brings his other hand to my waist.
